The foundation aims to provide all forms of support to children of families with limited means so that they may have access to the basic necessities of life and to education, henceforth, giving these children an equal opportunity to succeed in their communities.

With a personal endowment from Dr. Ahmed and through generous donations, Divine Heart Foundation, Inc aims to fulfill its mission/vision of “Connecting Hearts Without Borders – One Heart At A Time”.

Projects

Divine Heart Foundation, Inc, aims to fulfil its mission/vision with a hands-on approach interfacing directly with communities in need. Our current active projects are as follows:

PERU

We have and continue to work on several projects around the town of Ollataytambo. This picturesque Inca-era town from the 15th century sits at an altitude of 9160 feet (2792 meters) by the banks of the Urubamba River amid snowcapped mountains and is considered the gateway to the Sacred Valley. It is from this town that tourists take the train (Peru Rail) to get to Machu Picchu. While the landscape is amazingly beautiful, it is also quite harsh in geography and climate. There are at least 36 communities surrounding Ollantaytambo some at altitudes in excess of 13,000 ft (3963 meters). The growing season is quite short and people living in these communities survive mostly on limited farming and animal husbandry.

Children from some of these communities (estimated at 40+) walk as much as 5 to 6 Km one way to get to school in Ollantaytambo. We have already started a soup kitchen close to the main square of Ollantaytambo, in which we provide one nourishing meal to between 35 to 40 children daily as they head home from school in the afternoon. We have also undertaken a clothing drive to an impoverished community close to Ollantaytambo and plan this year to do similar drives including providing sustainable rations to the most impoverished families, hopefully, incentivizing them to continue sending their children to school.
