May Trip 2025 Soup Kitchen

Our soup kitchen continues to thrive. We are currently feeding 40 children a day that are from several small indigenous villages surrounding the town of Ollantaytambo. Our chef “Marleny” has been preparing fresh meals daily from produce and meats that is all organic and sold in the farmers market in Ollantaytambo. A registry of the kids has been created and the children have been provided numbered tags which they must show before they are fed. We have received wonderful feedback from the children as to the quality of the food being served and comments of immense gratitude from their parents.

Marleny Ccorahua Coronel

Marleny is our Chef who is also the wife of our community representative Alberto. She hails from a small indigenous community along the famed Inka trail. Her parents are alive and she has 4 brothers and 4 sisters all of whom live in Ollantaytambo. She has been married for over 20 years and she and Alberto have 2 children. She did her schooling in Ollantaytambo and then completed a nursing degree and subsequently worked as a nurse for 11 years. Over the past few years, she has worked as a Chef in several restaurants as she loves to cook especially for children. We are extremely lucky to have her cook delicious meals for the soup kitchen.
